ARCH ENEMY reveals details for new album, ‘War Eternal’

Three years after the release of Khaos Legions and their most successful world tour to-date, extreme metal icons ARCH ENEMY have started mixing their 9th studio album with Jens Bogren (OPETH, PARADISE LOST, KREATOR) at Fascination Street in Sweden.

Michael Amott (guitar) comments: “We’ve been producing ourselves, as we did on ‘Khaos Legions’. We have a clear vision of what we want ARCH ENEMY to sound like, and we can actually achieve it without the help of outside producers. We also have the advantage of having two talented sound engineers among our ranks in Daniel Erlandsson (drums) and Nick Cordle (guitar).

We’ve been tracking at a few different studios here in Sweden, the drums at Fascination Street Studio and guitars and bass in another room. We just finished vocals in a third studio with engineer Staffan Karlsson (‘Khaos Legions’) and the mix and mastering will done by Jens Bogren at his Fascination Street mixing facility.

Musically, this album is going a few places we haven’t visited before. As our fans have come expect, our albums have all had their own vibe and ‘War Eternal’ will leave its own mark. Lyrically it's a much more personal record, and I feel the songs have more dynamics and depth than ever before. The songs are loaded with strong and vicious metal, drenched in tons of melody and emotion. All the trademarks of ARCH ENEMY are present, just more in your face and turned up to 11”.

The new album will be titled War Eternal. Michael explains: “A lot of times life is a struggle, a war against what I like to call ‘mental chains’ in society that try to prevent you from living life the way you want, that try to stop you from making your dreams come true. I have always resented that and I always will. The title sums up our collective attitude a band as well; stages will be destroyed, eardrums will bleed. There will be no choice. This, ladies and gentlemen, is ’War Eternal’...”

ARCH ENEMY will debut new material on a short eastern European tour before the album is released in early June 2014; this trek will then be followed by an extensive run of European summer festivals, including Sweden Rock, Wacken and many more. A full headlining tour in North America, Europe, and the UK will take place in fall/winter 2014. ARCH ENEMY will once again tour nearly every corner of this world to spread the sound of War Eternal!

Chissà se del nuovo album si limiteranno a fare solo un paio di canzoni nuove, visto che quando passeranno da noi l'album dovrà ancora uscire, e se si porteranno comunque in tour l'album da comprare od aspetteranno la data d'uscita ufficiale.

La Gossow diventa manager del gruppo e la nuova cantante è Alissa White-Gluz

Ho appena letto anch'io e devo dire che questa notizia smorza non poco il mio entusiasmo sia per il nuovo album sia per le date live.
A parte casi particolari, secondo me il cambio di cantante è sempre un passo estremamente azzardato. Bisognerà ascoltare la nuova cantante per giudicare, ma temo sentirò non poco la mancanza di Angela Gossow...

 

Che non l'abbiano presa per quello, visto che la Gossow non si distingue certo per "bonaggine"!

 

Boh sto sentendo qualcosa su youtube ed effettivamente non è male, ma per fare un giusto confronto bisogna prima sentirla coi pezzi degli AE

 

A me degli Arch enemy frega 'na ceppa, ma questa è brava davvero. Poi se vi dispiace perché in quanto fans siete affezionati a lei (la Gossow inendo) come voce, vabbè, io non ci posso fare niente.

 

spero solo che con l'arrivo della cantante dai capelli blu degli agonist ,gli arch enemy non diventassero metalcore dato che questa cantante usa anche la voce clean come avviene nelle band metalcore ,non mi aspetto gran che dal nuovo album.
Certe volte il passaggio da melodic death metal a metalcore è molto breve ,tu guarda gli in flames comunque :

Bè la Gossow limitatamete al growl secondo me la batte, cioè ha una voce leggermente più potente, la bravura di Alissa consiste proprio nel passare dal un registro all'altro cantando bene con tutte e due (molto meglio le clean, secondo me), farla cantare solo in growl, a mio avviso, significherebbe non sfruttarla del tutto e far pesare ancora di più la differenza con la cantante che c'era prima. Anche se non credo che Ammott decida di inserire le clean vocals, sarebbe un cambiamento eccessivo.
