In un nuovo video realizzato su Cameo, Joey Belladonna ha parlato del suo personale stile vocale e di quello che ha dato e ricevuto dagli Anthrax. Queste le sue parole:
Per quanto mi riguarda, negli Anthrax, mi sono calato in qualcosa che non era proprio il mio stile, ma in pochi giorni ho sentito che suonavo bene su quella musica. Ero capace di fare un genere musicale con il quale non mi ero mai confrontato prima. Il che mi ha anche dato la possibilità di ampliare le mie capacità. Fare cose differenti e dimostrare di avere uno stile diverso dalla maggior parte delle persone. L’originalità è davvero una gran cosa.
È un qualcosa che vuoi davvero assicurarti che rimanga con te. Provare a somigliare a qualcun altro, non è mai stato il mio obiettivo. Ascolto e adoro un sacco di musicisti. Amo il loro modo di esprimersi, ma io suono in maniera differente da tutti loro. Posso riprodurre un sacco di loro, ma non sono come loro. Quello non sono io. Quando canto il mio materiale, ho il mio stile che lo rende riconoscibile.

Doing a record’s a hell of an accomplishment — just to get four or five people together to actually have the best foot forward and the same vision musically and just relying on people to show up and put the work in and just take the time to be a great band and even stick together, for god’s sakes. I really haven’t been in a lot of bands, but enough change of bands where I’m just completely amazed how people just come and go — they’re just not into it as much, and people have other means of life that they wanna do instead of playing in a band.
And music isn’t a big deal to ‘em. They wanna be around all the fun — all the amenities you get with being in a band and all that kind of stuff. For me, I never really was interested in all that. I love music — I love the way it sounds,
I like the way it feels, I like the way it puts me in a good mood, and I love to see people happy. At any given time when I’ve done what I’ve done, to see ‘em all happy and see that it brought ‘em joy, that’s really the main thing for me. Yeah, there’s been plenty of other good things to go with it, but that’s the main goal
